Observability Engineering Lead

Job description
We are seeking an experienced Observability Engineering Lead to design, implement, and maintain state-of-the-art monitoring and observability solutions. This role involves gathering requirements, implementing solutions, managing teams, and overseeing projects to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.

Your responsibilities
1. Requirements Gathering
- Conduct meetings with teams managing various applications and systems (e.g., Azure, Kubernetes, SAP, WMS) to understand monitoring and observability needs.
- Document business and technical requirements for monitoring systems.
2. Solution Implementation
- Select and implement appropriate tools and technologies for monitoring applications and business processes.
- Design and deploy observability solutions aligned with best practices.
- Integrate observability tools with existing systems and applications.
3. Maintenance and Development
- Monitor the performance and reliability of implemented solutions, ensuring continuity and efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve observability issues in a timely manner.
- Implement regular updates and improvements to monitoring systems.
- Train technical teams to effectively utilize observability tools.
4. Team Management
- Organize and oversee the work of the production and maintenance teams.
- Assign tasks, build work schedules, and track team progress.
- Manage contracts with external vendors, including negotiations, implementation oversight, and billing.
5. Project Management
- Create and maintain detailed project documentation.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management.
Our requirements
To succeed at this job, you must have:
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of monitoring tools and technologies (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK Stack, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic).
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud).
- Proficiency with Kubernetes and its ecosystem.
- Familiarity with SAP and WMS systems (preferred).
Analytical and Communication Skills
- Ability to collect and analyze both business and technical requirements.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration across diverse IT teams.
- Proficiency in documenting processes and technical solutions.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing monitoring tools.
- Proven ability to lead and manage technical teams effectively.
- Success in managing IT projects, including task scheduling and team organization.
- Experience in managing contracts with external vendors.
