• Act as the L3 expert for MS SQL Server across 5–6 client environments.

• Administer and troubleshoot Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication and standalone instances.

• Analyse and tune performance: queries, indexes, waits, blocking and resource use.

• Run backup and recovery with native and third-party tools; test restores regularly.

• Apply cumulative updates, upgrades and security hardening; manage logins and permissions.

• Operate Oracle 19c SE/EE databases on Linux and Windows, including RAC, Grid Infrastructure and RMAN backups with a third-party backup tool.

• Handle incidents, problems, changes and service requests under ITIL, in and out of business hours; record all work in ServiceNow.

• Carry out proactive work: health checks, capacity reviews, backup verification and documentation.

• Automate recurring tasks with T-SQL, PowerShell (e.g. dbatools) or Ansible.

• Manage vendor cases with Microsoft and Oracle on behalf of the client’s customers.

• 6+ years as an MS SQL Server DBA in production, with several years at expert (L3) level.

• Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances and

replication.

• Strong performance tuning, backup and recovery skills.

• 2+ years hands-on Oracle administration, including 19c, RAC and RMAN.

• Working-level Windows Server and Linux administration.

• T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.

• Working in ITIL processes with ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM tool.

• Fluent English, written and spoken (C1).

• Resident in Bulgaria and able to work from Bulgaria only.

• Willing to take part in the standby rotation.

Standby and out-of-hours

• You join the client team’s standby rotation for your technology: one to two slots per week, 12 hours on weekdays and 24 hours at weekends, with no more than 100 standby hours per month.

• Standby is remote. Alerts arrive by phone from the first-line team, and you connect within the response target (15 minutes for critical incidents).

• Planned change and maintenance work outside business hours is scheduled in advance, typically 5–15 hours per month.

• Standby hours and out-of-hours work are compensated separately from the day rate.

• Microsoft certifications (e.g. DP-300) and Oracle OCP 19c.

• Oracle Data Guard and Grid Infrastructure patching.

• dbatools, Ansible or other automation.

• Azure SQL or other cloud database experience.

• Experience supporting several client environments at the same time.
