Job description
The role is focused on supporting a Proof of Concept related to migrating a legacy reporting platform to a new solution based on Java and JasperReports. You will join a project aimed at rebuilding complex financial reporting capabilities, including investment fund performance reports, with a strong focus on PDF rendering quality, layout parity, and pixel-perfect report generation.
The position is dedicated to enterprise report design and document rendering rather than traditional backend Java development. The environment includes close collaboration with internal technical teams, business analysts, and domain experts responsible for existing reporting solutions.
The main objective of the role is to design, build, and evaluate complex PDF reports in JasperReports / Jaspersoft Studio, ensuring visual consistency with the current legacy system while assessing technical feasibility, limitations, and potential customization needs of the new reporting engine.

Your responsibilities
• Designing and developing reports in JasperReports / Jaspersoft Studio
• Preparing and modifying JRXML templates
• Implementing complex PDF reports with high layout and rendering requirements
• Analyzing feasibility of migrating existing legacy reports to JasperReports
• Identifying standard vs custom implementation approaches and required workarounds
• Solving issues related to pixel-perfect layouts, pagination, page breaks, dynamic tables, conditional sections, styles, and PDF compatibility
• Ensuring visual consistency and layout parity with the existing reporting solution
• Collaborating with internal teams, business analysts, and Java developers
• Participating in technical spikes, Proof of Concept activities, and risk assessment discussions
• Supporting evaluation of reporting engine limitations and proposing technical
improvements
Our requirements
To succeed at this job, you must have:
• Fluent English (spoken and written) - mandatory
• Hands-on experience with JasperReports / Jaspersoft Studio / JRXML or similar enterprise reporting solutions
• Strong experience in building PDF / print-ready / pixel-perfect documents
• Very good understanding of report layouts, dynamic tables, pagination, page breaks, subreports, conditional sections, and styling mechanisms
• Experience with font handling, font embedding, and PDF rendering troubleshooting
• Experience in migration projects or feasibility assessments related to reporting engines
• Ability to translate business reporting requirements into technical solutions
• Ability to assess layout-related risks and challenges connected with PDF parity and 1:1 report recreation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working closely with business stakeholders and technical teams
It would be preferred if you have:
• Basic knowledge of Java
• Experience with tools such as BIRT, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Oracle BI Publisher,
• Apache FOP / XSL-FO, iText, or PDFBox
• Experience in legacy reporting migration projects
• Experience with financial, regulatory, or client reporting solutions
• Familiarity with complex document rendering and export troubleshooting
