Network engineer (L2)
Find your best career opportunity and #growITwithus!
Job description
You will join the managed services team of a global technology company in Sofia, which runs the networks of 15–20 client organisations – more than 1,000 devices across data centres and sites. As the network engineer, you handle L2 work across switching, routing, load balancing and firewalls, together with the client’s own engineers.
The environment is multi-vendor. You do not need experience with every vendor listed; strong fundamentals and hands-on depth in several of them matter more.
#LI-PP1
Your responsibilities
• Resolve L2 network incidents and service requests across 15–20 client environments.
• Operate and troubleshoot switching and routing: VLANs, STP, link aggregation, OSPF/BGP, VRFs.
• Administer Aruba (CX / AOS-S, wireless controllers and access points) and HPE Comware devices.
• Operate F5 BIG-IP load balancers: virtual servers, pools, health monitors, certificates.
• Manage FortiGate and Check Point firewall policies, NAT and VPN troubleshooting.
• Support Mellanox/InfiniBand fabrics in data-centre environments.
• Plan and execute changes, firmware upgrades and configuration backups under ITIL change management, in and out of business hours.
• Open and manage vendor TAC cases on behalf of the client’s customers.
• Keep network documentation and diagrams up to date; record all work in ServiceNow.
Our requirements
To succeed at this job, you must have:
• 3+ years hands-on network operations at L2 level in an enterprise, data-centre or managed services environment.

• Good English, written and spoken (B2+).

Standby and out-of-hours
• You join the client team’s standby rotation for your technology: one to two slots per week, 12 hours on weekdays and 24 hours at weekends, with no more than 100 standby hours per month.
• Standby is remote. Alerts arrive by phone from the first-line team, and you connect within the response target (15 minutes for critical incidents).
• Planned change and maintenance work outside business hours is scheduled in advance, typically 5–15 hours per month.
• Standby hours and out-of-hours work are compensated separately from the day rate.
